Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be 18?
No, why let adults have all the fun. You need to 14 years of age to undertake a tandem skydive and 16 years of age to begin your accelerated freefall course, both you need
your parents/guardian permission.

Do I have to sign a waiver?
Yes, everyone signs a waiver of liability for Skydive Adelaide. If you wish, we can send
you a copy before your skydive so you can read and digest the information. You must
be 18 years of age to sign the waiver, so if you are under 18 we need to get your
guardian to sign for you.

Should I do a Tandem Jump, or an AFF Jump?
We think that ANY skydive is a good one to do! The Accelerated Freefall (AFF) is more
for those that want to learn to skydive and go solo, it’s a real buzz but you need to be
sure that this is the right choice for you.

Tandem jumps are more of an introduction, but do count afterwards towards your future training. If you plan to only make one jump ever, the once in a lifetime experience, we recommend Tandem. If you think you might become a regular skydiver and pursue the sport, then try an AFF.

What kind of clothes should I wear?
You should wear comfortable sneakers and clothes appropriate for the season; shorts
and a t-shirt on a hot day is find and if is a colder day, long pants and a comfortable
long sleeve shirt. We have jump pants, jump suits and goggles for you, included in the cost. We suggest not wearing hooded tops or boots with hooks.

What about if I wear glasses or contacts?
No problem, we supply goggles that will fit over your glasses and contacts are no
problem either with our closely fitted goggles.

What if I am too old or in poor physical condition?
We look at people individually to assess their ability. We may not be able to take you
in your weight exceeds 95kgs or you are in poor health. We have taken people as old
as 80+ years of age and have a lot of experience with people with various physical challenges.

Skydiving is a very physical activity, and we will not let you jump if we do not feel that it
is safe for you to do so. The physical requirements of AFF are somewhat more stringent than for tandem. If you are at all concerned ring and talk to us personally or pop in and
see us so we can discuss your needs in person.

How hard will I land?
Modern parachutes fly a lot like gliders and sail through the air. They can slow down
a great deal, so most of our landings are soft stand up landings or sometimes we sit
down on landing. Very hard landings are extremely rare and injuries are even more
rare, but they do and can happen.

Do you jump in all weather?
No, we will not be jumping when it is raining, very windy or when there are too many clouds, but we can still do your training, particularly if you are doing your AFF skydive. Weather can cause unexpected delays, so some patience is required, at Skydive Adelaide we try our best to get you in the air as quickly and as safely as possible. To make sure we save you a drive, we get you to call us before leaving to check how the weather is looking.

What other extra costs are involved?
None. Our prices include everything you need to make the jump that you are paying for, there are no hidden costs. GST is included. The only optional extra cost is if you choose one of our video/photography options. However you are more than welcome to have
friends come along and take ground photos on the day.

What if the parachute does not open?
This is one of our main questions we get asked. All sport parachute systems contain
two parachutes a main and a reserve. The tandem instructor is highly trained on the
use of the system and while a parachute malfunction is very rare, it can and does
happen. The reserve parachute flies and lands almost identical to the main parachute.

What if I need to change my booking date?
Once the deposit is paid we need not less than 48 hours notice to change bookings,
due to staffing and the demand on our popular time’s less than 48 hours will incur a
re-booking fee.

Will there be others jumping at the same time as me?
There may be others in the plane jumping at the same time as you. •If you have come along with friends or family who are skydiving up to 3 people can go at once in our plane.

Welcome to skydiving and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
